M.H. SAYADIP AND N. SHABANI

Abstract

Few technologies have attracted so much attention and funding internationally as nanotechnology. Environmental issues play an usual large role in the debate of this emerging general purpose technology. Contamination is a well-known environmental problem that can have severe human health implications. Marty kinds of adsorbents for pollution removal are being developed in the study. Recent advances in nanotechnology suggest that nanomaterials can be helpful in solving the problems of pollution. Nanomaterials have much larger surface areas than bulk materials and exhibit novel properties due to their small size. Unique properties of nanomaterials are being exploited by the researchers for developing more effective sorbents. In recent years nanofiltration, nanocatalysis, magnetic nanoparticles like Ti02, FeO and etc. were investigated for their clean up. The results have been demonstrated and it was observed by most researchers while the capacity and efficiency of sorbents increases more than expected when the materials are reduced to nanoscale. This paper gives a brief overview of potential of nanomaterials for remediation of pollution from environment.
