CELL WALL BOUND INVERTASE PRODUCTION BY PENICIL LIIIM PURPLIROGENLIM

Abstract

The isolated strain of Penicilliurn was found to produce cell wall bound invertase. The invertase level was maximum after 4 days of incubation. The cell wall bound invertase exhibited optimum activity at pH 4.5 and 37°C. Sodium Dodecyl Sulphate (SDS) at 0.05% concentration gives maximum solubilization of invertase from cell wall. The metal ion Na+ shows induction, Hg2+ shows strong inhibition and chelating agent (EDTA) has no significant effect on invertase activity.
