Abstract

The success of intensive fish culture depends on the formulation of a fish feed that contains an optimum level of protein and energy necessary for the growth of fish with minimum cost. Two different formulated feeds (D 1, D 2) and one control feed (D 3 ) were tested to three batches of Labeo rohitafingerlings to investigate the efficiency of the feeds on the growth performance. Feed incorporated with both animal and plant protein inD1 diets have support an increase in faster length and weight gain in comparison to the other two. Inferior growth performance is seen in the fish fed on lower level of protein content in D 3 diets probably due to the higher levels of carbohydrates in the diet. Water quality parameters of the entire three experimental tanks (T1, T 2 and T 3 ) were found within the suitable range of fish culture.
