EFFECT OF INDUSTRAIL WASTE ON SHRINKAGE BEHAVIOR OF EXPANSIVE SOIL

K. SIVA RAMA KRISHNA AND R. RAMA RAO

Abstract

The shrinkage limit tests are conducted for the expansive soil ( BC soil ) mixed separately with three industrial byproducts i.e. GGBFS, NFA and VFA at various proportions ranging from 0% to 100% at 10% interval to study the shrinkage behavior of the expansive soil at 0 , 7 and 28 days of curing. The test results indicate that both immediate and curing effects are less significant in controlling the shrinkage behavior of BC soil : VFA. Where as for BC soil : GGBFS/NFA at high additions the immediate effect and at all additions the curing effect are more significant in transforming the expansive soil ( plastic soil) into non- plastic soil .
