Abstract
The physico-chemical parameters like temperature, light penetration, total solids, chlorinity and dissolved oxygen were studied of two lakes i.e. one natural (Sion Lake) and one man-made (MNPS Lake) lake in the viscinity of Sion, Mumbai. The study revealed insignificant difference in between the water quality of both the lakes. However it was observed that the water quality was slightly better in the manmade lake as compared to the natural lake. This is attributed to the physical protection to the manmade lake while the excess of anthropogenic activities deteriorated the natural lake water quality.
