Anju A. Bhagat and V.H. Bajaj

Abstract

The present investigation utilized secondary data collected from Network Project on Pandharpuri buffalo, Zonal Agricultural Research Station, Shendapark, Kolhapur for the year 2006. The Cobb – Douglas production function was used to study input –output relationship in milk production of Pandharpuri buffalo. The value of R2 was 0.811 indicating that the four variables selected for analysis had explained 81.1 per cent variation in total milk production of Pandharpuri buffalo in the year 2006. The results of Cobb – Douglas production function revealed that Labour and dry fodder had positive and highly significant influence on milk production. The present study concluded that the marginal productivity of dry fodder and labour was 0.136 and 0.689 per cent respectively explaining that one per cent increase in these variables would increase the milk production by 0.136 and 0.689 per cent respectively.
