Abstract
Present paper deals with effect of different varieties of black gram viz. PDU-I, TAV-I and UG- 201. June sown plants of black gram varieties showed maximum dry matter production and relative growth rate (RGR) while NAR, LAR, SLA and LWR were also found maximum in June sown plants. The poor performance of August and September sown plants was reflective of the non-adjustability in the climatic conditions of these months. TAV-I variety appeared to be the best performer in all the four treatments. Introduction of PDU-I for better pod yield while TAV-I and UG-201 for better forage may be advocated.
