Abstract

In 50 Ground water samples collected from different localities in Erode Taluk, Tamilnadu were analysed for their physico-chemical characteristic. The analysis result was compared with the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and World Health Organization (WHO) standards of drinking water quality parameters namely pH, Electrical conductivity, calcium, Magnesium, chloride, total dissolved solids, total hardness, sodium, sulphate and nitrate, etc. The usefulness of these parameters in predicting ground water quality characteristics were discussed. These parameters are used for assessing the water quality of Erode Taluk, Tamilnadu. In this present study indicate that all the water samples are within the permissible limit, the water is used for drinking purpose.
