Abstract

This experiment is done to find out the optimum seedling density and planting spacing for the good quality and yield of scented rice. The field experiment was carried out at Raipur during kharif season of 2012. The result indicated that the transplanting of 2-3 seedlings hill-1 at 25 cm x 25 cm spacing recorded the highest growth characters as plant height (129.64) and number of tillers per hill (15.70) along with highest grain (38.20) and straw yields (77.91) with good quality characters as hulling percentage (84.9), milling percentage (77.2), head rice recovery (41.4), grain length (8.1), grain breadth (2.2), kernal length (5.5) and kernal breadth (1.8) of grains.
