Abstract

The present study was carried out to disseminate the technology of fry to fingerling production in seasonal fallow ponds in Khordha district of Odisha. Farmers were motivated to adopt the technology in four seasonal ponds covering 0.4 ha area. Observations on survival rate, income generation and farmersÂ’ reaction were recorded. The average survival rate and net income was found to be 73.25% and Rs. 77,130 ha-1 respectively within a short period of 3-4 months. Reflections of farmers towards the technology were positive. Thus, it is expected that the seasonal ponds can be adopted as an additional income generation activity to strengthen the livelihood of rural farmers.
