Abstract

Soil contamination and accumulation of heavy metals in soils contaminated with petroleum, especially drilling fluids is one of the most important environmental issues which threats plants, animals and human. In this research, concentrations of four parameters that have great environmental impacts were determined. Ultimately, practical solutions in order to improve the environment mostly soil were recommended. For this mean, after determination the concentration of heavy metals by (ICP-OES) method, results of analysis on samples in order to investigate the location variability, assessment of heavy metals concentration and preparing a map of heavy metals distribution, the amount of contamination was calculated by using (spatial analysis). Then by providing distribution Maps of parameters, we interpreted the probability of association of contamination with oil wells. Reasons for the increment or decrement of heavy metals in soils evaluated according to the international standards. Then it is recommended that drilling mud which is adaptive with environment and modern methods should be used.
