N.M. Patil and N.B. Shaikh

Abstract

The new insecticides were evaluated against red rust thrips Cheatanophothrips signipennis Bagnell viz, fipronil 5% SC, fipronil 80 WG, spinosad 45% SC, lambda cyhalothrn 5%EC, abamectin 1.8% EC, cartap dihydrochloride 50%SP, Profenphos 50%EC and acephate 75%SP. All these insecticides were significantly superior over untreated control but the treatment with fipronil 5%SC @0.0075% was found most effective in minimizing the per cent fruit infestation by red rust thrips. Yields in various treatments were non significant but as the red rust thrips hampers the quality of fruits net monetary returns and cost benefit ratio was highest in the same treatment.
