Abstract
This study has been performed to investigate the allelopathic effects of olive pomace on some growth characteristics of three varieties of wheat. The aqueous extracts of olive pomace with different concentrations (1, 3, 5 and 7%) were prepared, and three varieties of wheat were treated. After growth, the length and dry weight of root and shoot were measured. According to the results, measured factors significantly decreased with increasing concentration of the extract in all three varieties In addition, the inhibitory effects of olive pomace extracts intensified with increasing its concentration. Olive pomace contains phenolic substances and inhibitory effects have been attributed to these compounds.
