Abstract
Natural zeolites use in waste landfill liners is reviewed. Their use in landfill liners is mainly based on their cation exchange capacity and that they produce a liner that is less susceptible for cracking than clay liners. The mixture of zeolite and bentonite clay is suitable as landfill liner due to their geotechnical properties that include lower compressibility, lower swelling potential, higher shear strength, high sorption capacity, and chemical and mechanical stability. The liquid limit and plasticity index of this mixture are comparable to those of clay.
