Abstract

A field experiment was conducted during kharif season of 2007-08 at Cotton Research Unit of Dr. P.D.K.V. Akola, to evaluate the effect of moisture conservation and nutrient management techniques on yield and economics of Bt cotton. The experiment was laid out in a split plot design, comprising three soil moisture conservation and six integrated nutrient management techniques and replicated thrice. Mulching with straw (5 t/ha) recorded significantly highest seed cotton yield (15.45 t/ha) as compared to opening of alternate furrows in last interculture (14.08 t/ha) and was at par with intercropping of cotton with blackgram (14.77 t/ha). Among nutrient management practices 100% RDF and micro nutrients Zn, Fe, B recorded significantly higher seed cotton yield (16.36 q/ha) whereas, RDF i.e. 50:25:25 kg NPK/ha (15.03 q/ha), 75% RDF+25% FYM (14.72 q/ha), 75% RDF+25% vermicompost (14.80 q/ha) and 50% RDF+50% vermicompost (14.45 q/ha) were at par with each other.
