Abstract
Gall midge (Orseolia oryzae) genotypes differing in their reaction to host resistant genes are often reffered to as biotype. The biotype could be qualified by the pattern they elicit in their differential groups. Out of the fourteen differentials of paddy tested at Raipur elicited a pattern of R-R-R-S confirmed the biotype 1 gall midge.
