MICRONUTRIENT (ZINC AND IRON) PRODUCTIVITY IN RICE (ORYZA SATIVA L.)

Abstract

Sixty one local and improved lines were screened for various genetic parameters. Analysis of variance showed significant variation explaining the presence of genetic variation for each trait. The grain yield per plant exhibit high phenotypic and genotypic coefficient of variation followed by grain iron (Fe) content, straw yield per plant, biomass of plant, number of tillers and number of productive tillers. Moderate phenotypic and genotypic coefficient of variation was shown by grain zinc (Zn) content, 100 grain weight, plant height. Nine genotypes showed both high Fe and Zn productivity. The significant positive correlation was found between grain Fe and Zn content. Fe content had significant positive correlation and Zn content had negative non-significant correlation with grain yield. Path coefficient analysis showed that there is no indirect and direct effect of grain Fe and Zn content on grain yield per plant. Genotypes were grouped into nine clusters based on D2 analysis.
