RELEVANCE OF ASSESSMENT SCIENCE RESEARCH CONCERNING OCCUPATIONAL HAZARDS OF DRILLING OPERATIONS

Abstract

This paper presents a brief analysis and characteristics of major dangerous and hazardous production factors affecting the health of the workers during oil and gas drilling and professional diseases which can further trigger the mechanisms of development and progression of general sickness. Particular attention is paid to the limited number of studies devoted to the labor conditions of the staff operating and serving drilling rigs.It is stated that to exclude or minimize traumas and occupational diseases, the staff should be competent in the sphere of labor safety and take part in the system of professional risks management. This paper explains the relevance of assessment science research concerning occupational hazards of drilling operations and development of easy to understand methodology for managing hazards on the base of quantitative assessments and calculations and analytical procedures.
