EFFECT OF PSEUDOMONAS ON MICRONUTRIENT STATUS OF FOREST AND AGRICULTURAL SOIL OF UTTARAKHAND, INDIA

Stuti Sah, Manvika Sahgal and Rajni Singh

Abstract

The presence of microbes in soil makes the nutrient content of soil readily available for the plants. Nutrient content of the forest soil of different trees (Pine and Querecus) and agricultural field was analysed and the effect of microbial count on soil nutrient was observed. Species of Pseudomonas comprise a large portion of the total culturable bacterial population in the rhizosphere. Tukey’s post hoc multiple comparison analysis revealed that copper was highest in Pine surface soil and lowest in agricultural surface soil. Iron (Fe), Manganese (Mn), and Zinc (Zn) content was found to be highest in Pine deep soil, followed by the other five type of soil which varied with the soil type. Lower amount of nutrients were found in Oak forest soil but the number of Pseudomonas isolates was higher. The Fe content of Oak deep soil was minimum in the order as Pine Deep Soil >Pine Surface Soil > Agricultural Deep Soil >Oak Surface Soil >Oak Deep Soil > Agricultural Surface Soil.
