Abstract
The present investigation aims to study the applicability of naturally available fibrous material such as coffee husk blended with wooden chips (30 kg/m3) as fixed bed for wastewater treatment. The removal efficiency of COD, NH3-N, TSS and PO4 3- from the domestic wastewater were studied at predefined experimental conditions. In this study, operation was carried out in Regime phase with a detention time of 24 h (1 day) and sampling at an interval of 3 h. From the kinetic studies, correlation co-efficient R2 values varied from 0.906 to 0.932 in the reactor indicating that values of R2 for actual values of percentage removal were nearly equal to 1.
