Abstract

Field experiment with six treatments of nutrients application under STCR approach was conducted at Research Farm of JNKVV, Jabalpur (230 13’ N, 790 57’ E and 393.0 m altitude), during two successive Rabi seasons of 2010-11 and 2011-12 to evaluate the productivity and economics of wheat. Results of two years study revealed that highest grain and straw yields (5.33 and 6.82 t ha-1) were obtained under STCR approach with FYM against the targeted yield of 6.0 t ha1. Grain and straw yields under GRD and STCR approach were significantly superior to that under control. Grain yield in GRD treatment was significantly lower to those under STCR treatments with and without FYM application. It was also found that among the STCR treatments integration of FYM produced significantly higher yield over those treatments hiving no FYM. Results further showed that average net return was 18-23 percent and 30-40 percent higher under STCR approach with and without FYM as compared to GRD treatments, respectively. At same level of targeted yields, integration of FYM resulted in 14-22 per cent higher net returns. Therefore, the present study reveals that STCR approach of nutrient application is superior practice for enhancing productivity and net returns from wheat cultivation.
