Abstract
Present paper deals with the study of pollen viability of Mangifera indica L. and Eucalyptus tereticornis Sm. which are bio- marker of vehicular air pollution in Karimnagar district. a considerable reduction was observed in pollen viability in the arborescent plants growing in polluted traffic area. It has observed that the mean percentage of pollen viability in Mangifera indica is 92.1% in forest locality, 96.68% in irrigated locality, and 84.2% in polluted locality and the pollen viability of Eucalyptus tereticornis is 88.2% in forest locality, 90% in irrigated locality, and 61.9% in polluted locality. The pollen of Mangifera indica and Eucalyptus tereticornis from forest and irrigated localities have high percentage of viability when compare to polluted area. This indicates the effect of pollution on pollen viability in Mangifera indica and Eucalyptus tereticornis.
