EVALUATION OF IMMUNE MODULATING EFFECT OF COW URINE DISTILLATE FOLLOWING SUB CHRONIC EXPOSURE OF IMIDACLOPRID IN WHITE LEGHORN COCKERELS (WLH) COCKERELS

Abstract

Cow urine distillate had immunomodulatory action. In Sushrita Samhita the cow urine has been described as the most effective substance of animal origin with innumerable therapeutic values. The present study was conducted in white leghorn cockerels for a period of 60 days to evaluate the immunomodulatory potential of cow urine distillate. Forty eight birds were divided into six groups (n=8) randomly and equally. Group I served as control , whereas, group II and III were given 1/10th and 1/20th LD 50 doses of imidacloprid. Group V and VI were given same doses as group II and III alongwith cow urine distillate @ 1 mL/bird orally. Group IV were given only cow urine distillate @ 1 mL/bird orally. DTH response and splenic cell cellularity were estimated at the end of study and the histopathological studies were conducted of skin and spleen. The study revealed that imidacloprid producing the immunotoxic effect on WLH cockerels after sub chronic exposure in a dose dependent manner and cow urine produces the immunomodulatory effect by keeping the aforesaid parameters in and nearly normal levels.
