ASSESSMENT OF PHYSICOCHEMICAL AND HEAVY METAL ANALYSIS ON VEGETABLE CROP AS SPONGE GOURD (LUFFA AEGYPTICA ROEM) UNDER IRRIGATED WITH UNTREATED SEWAGE WASTE WATER OF YAMUNA RIVER IN ALLAHABAD CITY, INDIA

Abstract

A field experiment was conducted in Biochemistry, Department of Chemistry, Sam Higginbottom Institute of Agricultural, Technology & Sciences, (Formerly Allahabad Agricultural Institute) (U. P) to evaluate studies on physico-chemical and microbiological characteristics of sewage discharged in Yamuna river and bioaccumulation of selected heavy metals in cucurbits during of the year 2003-04 were tested in field experiment was laid out in two way classification of randomized block design with three replications. In the present investigation three waste water sampling sites T1 Gau-Ghat (Nala No. 1), T2 Gau-Ghat (Nala No. 2) and T3 Baluaghat (Chachar Nala) were selected before they mixed with river water for analysis of physico- chemical properties in which T3 Baluaghat (Chachar Nala) with (P4) Sewage waste water significantly the highest temperature (27.90, 26.90 0C) during 2003 and 2004. The study showed that the concentration of chromium concentrations (0.208 and 0.207 mg/l) in sewage and Yamuna water varied greatly in (P4) sewage waste water compare than other three places as (P1) Upstream, (P2) Down stream and (P3) Mixing point sewage waste water. In case of seasons maximum concentration was observed in all four heavy metals in summer season compare than other two seasons as winter and monsoon.
