Abstract

An experiment was conducted during 2006-07 to evaluate the comparative performance of perennial grasses in association with legume based combinations under rainfed situation in the Singhhum East of Jharkhand. For the said study an experiment has been designed in randomized block design with eleven treatments i.e., T1: guinea grass (sole), T2 : Napier grass (sole), T3; Stylosanthes (sole), T4 ; Charabadam (sole), T5; Guinea grass + Stylosanthes (1:2), T6 Guinea grass + Charabadam (1:2), T7 Napier + Stylosanthes (1:2), T8; Napier + Charabadam (1:2), T9; Deenanath grass (sole), T10 ; Deenanath grass + Synthosanthes (1:2), T11 Deenanath grass + Charabadam (1:2). The treatments were replicated thrice results that the combination of Napier + Stylosanthes (1:2) recorded highest green yield followed by Napier + Charabadam (1:2), simultaneously the net return and benefit Cost ratio were also obtained maximum from treatment Napier + Stylosanthes (1:2) and concluded as best combinations among the treatments laid out under under the experiment.
