Abstract

A field experiment as carried out during the kharif season of 2014 at Raichur (Karnataka) to study the bioefficacy of diclosulam 84% WDG against weeds in greengram. The results indicated that all the treatments reduced the density and dry weight of weeds and increaesd the yield significantly over weedy check. Amon the herbicide treatments, pre-emergence application of prndimethalin @ 1.5 kg a.i. ha-1 recorded significntly lower total weed population (6.66, 8.80 and 8.96 m-2, respectively) and total dry weight (3.37, 5.20 and 5.93m-2, respectively) at 30, 60 DAS and at harvest compared to weedy check. The treatment also recorded lower weed index, higher weed control efficiency and seed yield. Diclosulam 84 % WDG @ 17.5 g a.i. ha-1 as pre-emergence application was found to be the next best treatment for all the parameters studied and was on par with pendimethalin.
