SUCCESSION OF INSECT PEST COMPLEX AND THEIR NATURAL ENEMIES IN SOYBEAN [GLYCIN MAX (L) MERRILL ]

Abstract

A field trial was conducted in kharif season of 2011-12 to study the succession of insect pest complex of soybean and their natural enemies viz. Bemisia tabaci Gennadius (Hemiptera: Aleyrodidae) Green semilooper, Chrysodeixis acuta Walker (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae), Tobacco caterpillar, Spodoptera litura Fabricius (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae), Stem fly, Zehntner (Diptera: Agromyzidae), Green stink bug, Nezara viridula Linn. (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae) were the main pests which damaged the crop. Three natural enemies viz. Lady bird beetle, Cheilomenes sexmaculatus, Fabricius (Coleoptera : Coccinellidae), Predatory bug, Podisus meculiventris Say (Hemiptera:Pentatomidae) and Entomopathogenlc fungus, Beauveria bassiana Bals-Criv. (Hypocreales:Cordycipitaceae) were the main natural enemies which occurred on the soybean pests.
