Abstract

Nowadays the search for novel therapeutic agent with antileukemic activity received much attention especially from marine organisms. Marine sediments of Thoothukudi coastal area was explored with a view to isolate the therapeutic enzyme L Glutaminase producing Actinomycetes. Glutaminase positive Actinomycetes isolates were obtained from the sediment samples using different media. More than 40 isolates showed Glutaminase Activity by plate assay method and among the screened isolates, only three isolates showed strong activity with an enzyme production to the level of 9.42 IU to 16.94 IU/mL.
