PROMISING SPECIES OF ARTEMISIA IN THE DESERT ZONE OF SOUTHERN KAZAKHSTAN

Abstract

The vast areas of the deserts of Kazakhstan that are currently used as pastures will be used in years ahead as the main fodder base for livestock breeding on pastures, which is very promising for the development of the organic products market. Stable development of livestock breeding on pastures in this area is largely determined by the grassland condition. Their productivity is low and greatly varies by years and seasons. It is usually due to the climate, which features sentimentality. However, low yields are explained not only by aridity of the climate, but also by the haphazard administration of grazing resources in the recent years, which results in decline of valuable fodder species, and degradation of grasslands. This process has not bypassed sagebrush pastures, especially in the more populated areas of southern Kazakhstan. Due to the current situation, the concern about preserving and increasing productivity becomes urgent. In solving this problem, artificial regeneration by using species of pasture plants that can generate sustainable, long-term
