Abstract
Biological synthesis of nanoparticles have generated tremendous attention in the last few years owing to it eco-friendly nature of nanoparticle synthesis. The present study reports biological synthesis of gold nanoparticles using leaf extract of the plant Morinda coreia. The aqueous leaf extract was reacted with a solution of HAuCl4 which showed a colour change from yellow to cherry red. Gold nanoparticles formation was confirmed with UV-Visible spectrophotometer reading between 480-560 nm. XRD pattern exhibited that the nanoparticles were crystalline in nature and matched with the ICDD reference file, with peaks at 38.18o, 44.39o, 64.58o, 77.55o of 2θ value. SEM analysis revealed morphological characteristics of nanoparticles with different size ranging from 70 to 100 nm. Thus our present study attributes for an alternative for synthetic methods of gold nanoparticles preparation. Further study to screen out the possible phytochemicals constituents present in M. coreia that is responsible for its bio-reduction property to test the effects of various concentration of leaf extract solution on different concentration of HAuCl4, which can further enhance and optimize the shape and size of the nanoparticles formed.
