Abstract
According to the population growth, the increase of environmental pollutants and also the water shortage especially in the warm and dry areas, using the sewage of wastewater treatment plants as one of the main irrigation resources is inevitable. Therefore, in recent years, this issue has widely and significantly been considered by the custodians. In most countries facing with the water shortage, the treated sewage can be considered as the cheapest and the most accessible irrigation resources regarding being rich in the plant nutrients. In this research, the sewage quality of the wastewater treatment plant in Torbat-e Heydarieh and its usability in the irrigation were investigated. To achieve this purpose, some parameters such as COD, BOD5, Ca, Mg, Na, Cl, K, SAR, Na%, turbidity, total coliform, fecal coliform, and parasites eggs were analyzed for 8 months in the wastewater treatment plant according to the conditions mentioned in the references books. The results showed that the average of all measured parameters except Cl is in agreement with the standards reported by the Department of Environment, Iran, for reusing the sewage in the agriculture. So, the sewage of the wastewater treatment plant in Torbat-e Heydarieh can be used as a water resource for irrigating lands.
