Abstract

Studies in the forests of the mountain taiga, forest-steppe and steppe zones of the Baikal region on the example of the territory of Transbaikalia have been carried out. This study confirmed the catastrophic tendency to reduce forest cover and increase the area of shrub, steppe and meadow communities. Contribute to this trend is not only natural, but also anthropogenic factors in the form of fires, unauthorized cuttings, falls. Such an environmental situation is aggravated by the unsuccessful forestry reforms, which led to a decrease in the level of forest protection, a reduction in the amount of work for growing planting material and reforestation.
