PERFORMANCE OF COWPEA GENOTYPES IN NORTHERN DRY ZONE OF KARNATAKA IN SUMMER SEASON

Abstract

Field experiment was conducted during summer season of 2012-13 to Study the performance of cowpea genotypes (viz KBC-2, KM-5, IT-38956-1 and C-152) in Northern Dry Zone of Karnataka in summer season at Farmer’s field Mattihal village of Basavan Bagewadi taluk in Bijapur district. The results revealed that among the cowpea genotypes IT-38956-1 recorded significantly higher grain yield (1397 kg ha-1), gross returns ( 44586 Rs ha-1), net returns ( 27723Rs ha-1) and B:C( 2.95) ratio compared to rest of the treatments.
