Abstract
The objective of this study was to investigate the use of lead resistant Klebsiella pneumoniae as a new nanobiosorbent to remove Pb2+ ions from aqueous medium. Transmission electron Microscopy, Energy Dispersive spectroscopy (EDS), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR spectra), were employed to characterize the Nanobiosorbent. Metal adsorption experiments were carried out to investigate the effects of different experimental parameters including pH of the solution, adsorbent dose, adsorbate concentration and contact time on adsorption capacity of nanobiosorbent. The maximum Pb2+ adsorption capacity onto Nanobiosorbent was 990.5 mg-g at pH 6, 0.1 g-1 of adsorbent and 200 mg-1 adsorbate dose at 30 min contact time which was superior amongst organic biodegradable Nanobiosorbents.
