Abstract
The aim of this study was to evaluate the impacts of salt stress on some physiological parameters in callus culture of both Satureja. Callus culture was subjected to different concentrations of NaCl by placing on Murashinge and Skoog (MS) medium during two weeks. Relative water content, relative growth rate, index of tolerance, Chlorophyll, carotenoids and K content were considerably decreased in comparison with control while calli accumulated high level of Na, proline, protein and soluble sugar. This result suggested that Satureja hortensis is more sensitive to salt stress than Satureja avromanica. S. avromanica displayed less injuries caused by salt stress compared to S.hortensis
