A HOLISTIC STUDY ON SUSTAINABLE CONCRETE MATRIX INFUSED BY EGGSHELL POWDER

K. Sargunan and S. Senthil Kumar

Abstract

This study was more focuses on utilizing an alternate material substitution for cement ie. Eggshell powder which are thrown off as eggshell waste after its consumption at small scale industries, hotels etc. Cement mantle was replaced with eggshell powder in varying proportions and forms and thus the optimum proportion was obtained. In a way, Eggshell powder in raw form (ESP) without any treatment can be utilized up to 20% for cement and in treated form as when it was incinerated to 900°C for 1 hour the resultant product (IESP) seems to show a greater strength values up to 30%. These resultant values are also further correlated with regression analysis for strength vs curing spells which foresaw that the treated proportion even up to 40% replacement shows strength and durability aspects which are not dropping inferior than those suggested for controlled concrete. Followed by XRD and SEM analysis too reveals well off internal structural character with improved bondage nature and reduced absorbencies.
