ANALYSIS OF FACTORS AFFECTING THE SELF-CARE BEHAVIORS OF DIABETES MELLITUS TYPE 2 PATIENTS IN BINJAI, NORTHSUMATERA-INDONESIA

Abstract

Self-care behavior of Diabetes Mellitus type 2 Patients is influenced by motivation, self-efficacy, communication, knowledge, attitude, family support, and financing. The study aims to determine the factors that significantly affect the self-care behaviors of type 2 Diabetes mellitus patients. The data are obtained using questionnaire and processed by factor analysis through Structural Equation Model (SEM) method using AMOS aid to 115 respondents. The results showed that self-care behaviors of type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in Binjai are significantly influenced by motivation, self-efficacy, communication, knowledge, and attitude. Motivation is the most dominant factor that gives the contribution to the formation of self-care behaviors of type 2 Diabetes Mellitus patients in Binjai.
