HOST DEPENDENT EXPRESSION OF LACTOSE (LAC) PROMOTER IN AZOTOBACTER VINELANDII AND STREPTOMYCIN ( STR) PROMOTER IN AZORHIZOBIUM CAULINODANS

ANIL BALI

Abstract

Promoter Strength and Host factors play role in expression of cloned gene in a vector. It has been shown that Escherichia coli lac promoter is very strongly expressed in Azotobacter vinelandii, a naturally lacorganism and this expression is sufficiently strong to prevent expression of nif A cloned in opposition to it. This work also demonstrate that transposon Tn5 encoded Streptomycin resistance was not largely detectable in Azorhizobium caulinadans.
