Abstract

The aims of this study were to estimate the status and evaluate the optimum level of exploitation of Tuna in East Java. The research was conducted in three locations of tuna landing center in East Java, which were on Trenggalek, Malang and Pacitan. The methods using for collecting data were by field survey and document data time series and production quantities of tuna fishing in East Java. The method of analysis used a bio-economy models analysis by Schafer and Gordon. The analysis showed that the utilization status of tuna in East Java has over fishing. Total average actual production years period from 2009 - 2014 was 4.943.468 kilograms, while the production estimate optimum (MEY) was 988.237 kilograms, with the level of exploitation of 206 units. Tuna production in East Java for period of 2009-2014 was higher than the condition of sustainable (MSY). Otherwise conservation efforts sooner or later Tuna resources in the East Java will suffer in production.
