Abstract

Application of pesticide on vegetables will protect them from pest injury, but in another hand will hold pesticide residues inside vegetables. These residues have harmful effect against all consumers, so we mustevaluate the toxicity of those pesticides. In the present study, we took oxamyl pesticides in the field ofstudy, because it is used widely for combatant vegetable insect pests inside Iraq. Median lethal dose (LD50)for oxamyl pesticide, was determinant by using Probit analytical method. The evaluation of toxicity fortargeted pesticides were carried out by taking 1/10, 1/100, and 1/10000 from the LD50 of oxamyl pesticidethat previously determinant by Probit number technique. Orally administration of determinant doses was applied on albino mice by using gavage-tube for 30 days as sub-chronic kind of exposure. We tookbiochemical parameters, as indicator for pesticide toxicity. We sacrifice the mice of all groups in the end ofthe sub- chronic orally administration period. ANOVA statistical test Table was carried out for results ofoxamyl biochemical results. The results reveal that there are significant and non significant results dependingon the kind of parameter. The results exposed that administration of low concentration dose 1/10000 fromLD50 has the same or even more adversely affect towards targeted organs, the reason for that attitude dueto bio- accumulation effect and the inability of low dose for stimulate the defense systems of body likesuperoxide dismutase (SOD), whereas, intermediate and high dose concentration able to stimulate body defense systems like SOD.
