Abstract

This article describes quality indices of water from the Don River delivered via supply channel to chemical water treatment plant of Novocherkassk state district power plant (SDPP) (Novocherkassk, Rostov region,Russia). Operation principle of apparatuses and units of central desalination plant (CDP) is discussed;retrofitting of this plant by Closed Joint-Stock Company "Research and Production Company MEDIANA FILTER" (Moscow), a leading company in the field of industrial water treatment, was completed in 2009.The quality of desalinated water consumed upon generation of electric and thermal energy has been estimated by measurements of silica content and electrical conductance. Silica acid content at output of water ultra filtration plant is about 8.1 μg/dm3, and specific electrical conductance of desalinated water at CDP output is 0.13 μS/cm. The actual value of the degree of water purification is 99.7%. The high efficiency of the installation for a long period is established.
