Abstract

The microalgal water samples from eight different locations were collected and analysed for pH, EC, salinity and turbidity. The microalgal samples were enriched in the Bold’s Basal medium and incubated at 23 ±10C, 50-55% humidity with 16:8 hours light: dark photoperiod for 21 days. Isolates containing lipid, were identified using the technique of Nile Red staining. Ulothrix, the isolate obtained from the district of Haryana was found to contain the maximum lipid content of 26.3%.
