Abstract
Large extent of genetic variability for various vegetative and floral characters among twenty two genotypes of adenium was observed in the present study indicating complex heterozygous nature of adenium. Contribution of environmental variances to the phenotypic expression of character was found to be lower in all characters. Environmental variance for the character like number of branches, flower weight and photosynthesis rate were very low, i.e. 0.02, 0.03 and 0.09 respectively indicating meagre role of environment. The highest extent of genotypic coefficient of variation was exhibited by the character number of petals per flower i.e. 40.89 per cent. High heritability was observed for all the characters. Genetic advance as per cent of mean was also observed high for all the characters.
