THE ANALYSIS OF ENVIRONMENTAL SUPPORT BASED ON WATER AND LAND AVAILABILITY IN FARMING PRODUCTION CENTRAL CLUSTER OF MIFEE PROGRAM IN MERAUKE

Abstract

Merauke, in 2010, arranged a program of Merauke Integrated Food and Energy State (MIFEE) which was an alternative program to solve food crisis and nation’s energy oriented to integrated farming development. MIFEE program needed wide enough are that was 1.2 million acres. This would give pressure to capacity of water and land support at an area. The capacity of water and land support needs attention to balance the supply availability and the demand of water and land. The analysis of environmental support capacity can be a reference to arrange continuity of spatial planning. This study aims to know the availability and demands of water and land using primary and secondary data; physical condition of studied area, the number of residents, area potential, and the usage of land and water in KSPP area MIFEE program. The location of study was KSPP area of MIFEE program in Merauke with 1.369.916,15 acres of area. This is a descriptive quantitative study comparing the availability of land and water and the demand. The data were processed based on Rules of Living Environment Ministry Number 17,2009. The results show supply of land was 1.369.916,15 acres and the status of land support capacity was surplus or (SL>DL) and the status of demand was conditionally sustained 1.6. The status of water support capacity of KSPP development of MIFEE program was surplus with water availability (SA) was 420.964.429.68 m3/year bigger than water demand (DA) 77.870.400 m3/year (SA>DA) and the status of demands was sustained with 5.41m3/year.
