Abstract
The Central Sulawesi area, such as Poboya District, Palu City, has plenty of gold mineral. This gold mineral is mined by local people by using mercury and cyanide. The research is aimed at obtaining important factors in managing the peopleâs gold mine, Poboya Village that is based on the priority scale. This research includes interviewing the key stakeholders that have been chosen purposively using questionnaire. This research uses ISM technique (interpretative structural modeling). The results showed that priority problems in managing the peopleâs gold mine in Palu City ranging from the highest importance to the lowest one are the minersâ preference for their own economic interest and ignorance of the environmental damage; the use of excessive mercury and cyanide that damage the environment; socialization and making miners aware of environmental conservation; strict law enforcement toward offenders in the study location; vast control over miners; absence of infra-structure and supporting facilities for waste processing; and the peopleâs ignorance about environment.
