Abstract

One of the most important problems in the aquaculture industry, which has caused heavy losses to the growers of this industry, is fish diseases, which in some cases cannot be treated due to delayed diagnosis. Therefore, the use of cytogenetic and molecular genetic testing methods can be of great help in this section. In this regard, cytogenetics can detect many fish diseases using chromosomes through molecular techniques, most notably FISH and CGH techniques. On the other hand, molecular methods are widely used in the detection of many aquatic diseases using DNA and RNA extraction by applying techniques such as Real Time PCR and other types of PCR. In this review article, we try to interpret the importance of many cytogenetic and molecular genetic methods in diagnosis of fish diseases.
