Abstract

Effluents from textile industries contain dyes, cause hazards because of complex molecular structures and synthetic origin. The present study focused on the treatment of textile dyes for removal of colour and COD by Fenton process and Electro-Fenton process. The optimum values of FeSO4 dosage, H2O2 dosage and pH were studied by molar ratio 50:1 and 100:1 for the Decolorization and COD removal of the three different dyes. Maximum Decolorization was observed in Fenton process and Electro Fenton process for the optimum molar ratio of 50:1 and pH value of 3 for all three dyes. The highest COD removal percentage was 95 for the reaction time 40 minutes in Electro-Fenton process. The result shows that compared to Fenton process the Electro-Fenton process is more efficient in the degradation of aqueous effluents polluted by synthetic organic dyes.
