Abstract
The diversity of abundant bacteria using metagenomics was studied to understand the role of these microbes in organic matter mineralization. Here, the metagenomics analysis was performed using the pre-processed consensus V3 sequences in Illumina MiSeq sequencing platform. The pre-processed reads from all samples were pooled and clustered into Operational Taxonomic Units (OTUs) based on their sequence similarity (> 97%). Members of the phyla Firmicutes, Bacteroidetes, Proteobacteria, Choloflexi, Actinobacteria, Gemmatimonadetes, Nitrospirae, and Acidobacteria were found dominant in the estuarine sediments of Ashtamudi. The taxonomic abundant plots for phylum, class, order, family, genus and species distribution for the sample were showed the dominant taxa in each category.
