Abstract
There is an increasing commercial demand for nanoparticles due to their wider applicability in various areas such as electronics, catalysis, chemistry, energy and medicine. Economically preparation of silver nanoparticles using green synthesis path is gradually increaseing. Polysaccharide based metallic nanoparticles had an increasing commercial demand due to the wide applicability in various areas such as electronics, chemistry, energy, cosmetics and medicine. Now a dayââ¬â¢s Ag or Au-nanoparticles based on polysaccharide of plant or animal is common. In this investigation, synthesis of Ag-nanoparticles were prepared by crude polysaccharide, isolated from fibre of Cocos nucifera (coconut) and characterized by using UV-VIS spectrum band at 420 nm. The prepared Ag-nanoparticles showed strong antimicrobial activity and photo-catalytic activity against Congo red. These particles showed DNA cleavage activity.
