Abstract

The effect of growth rate and biomass productivity for microalgae Scenedesmus sp. grown in Bolt’s Basal Medium (BBM) under the influence of pH (6.5, 7.0, 7.5, 8.0, 8.5, and 9.0) and light intensity (36, 100, 180, 245, and 326 μmol m-2s-1) was analyzed in batch culture. The highest specific growth rate of Scenedesmus sp. was 0.86 day-1 and biomass productivity was 40.5×104 cell/mL/day, when the medium was maintained at a constant pH value of 7.5. Similarly, Scenedesmus sp. also achieved higher growth rate (0.79 day-1) and biomass productivity (38.44×104 cell/mL/day) at pH 8.0. The great effect in photoperiod in terms of growth was at 18:6 hours with a maximum specific growth of 0.75 day-1 and highest biomass productivity of 73.9×104 cell/mL/day. The significant in different pH and photoperiod on the growth and biom.
